Tyler Wagler is an in demand performer, session musician and educator. As a kid he spent most of his youth playing guitar, cutting his teeth on classic rock, blues and folk music. Upon finishing high school he attended Humber College's jazz program as a bass student where he completed a Bachelor of Music degree. While at Humber he had the opportunity to study under master musicians such as Don Thompson, Mike Downes and Pat Kilbride. 

Since graduating from Humber, Tyler has worked steadily on stage and in the studio. He is best known as a founding member of modern roots reggae band The Human Rights, releasing three albums and touring Canada and the US. He is a busy sideman having worked with Joni Nehrita, Alysha Brilla, Tia Brazda, Tannis Slimmon, Friendly Rich and The Lollipop People, david sereda, Lillian Allen, Paul Quarrington, Jay Douglas, Lorraine Segato and others. As a singer/songwriter he has released two EPs under his own name, the latter of which Gray Owl Point calls "a skillfully orchestrated and intimate affair." As a jazz musician he is a first call double bass player in the Guelph area. He also works a wide variety of jobbing and corporate gigs playing everything from Top 40 to country to klezmer. After spending several years in Toronto Tyler is now based in Guelph where he has been teaching and performing for almost fifteen years. He is currently the Musical Director of The Guelph Youth Jazz Ensemble and teaches privately from his home where he lives with his wife and two young sons. 

As an educator, Tyler believes strongly in assisting students in identifying their own goals and helping to achieve them through a mix of technique, repertoire and theory while developing a healthy relationship with music.
